This is old archive on WordCamp 2007, Matt Cutts from google said some  Wordpress SEO Tricks for Google, Here the best tips to get your blog rank higher in search engines without buying or exchanging links. I am sure this information still work and useful specially on Busby SEO Test.

1. Use a 3-4 word long ALT tag description with every image – good for SEO plus screen readers.
2. Use dashes to separate words, hyphens are OK but spaces are bad. Now, the underscore AND the hyphen have the same word separator value.
3. Standardize backlinks (don’t mix and match www with non-www) choose one.
4. Make sure post creation dates are easy to find, make your visitor happy.
5. Google doesn’t care about link depth (the number of slashes in your permalink (blog/title/date/#)) – but Yahoo does.
6. File extensions in the URL won’t affect rankings (.php, .html, .htm, .asp, .aspx, .jsp), just don’t use .exe extension.
7. Use full-text RSS feeds to get loyal users. Partial feeds get more page views, but not as much love.
8. Keep it simple, and search engines will like it,  just like in this Busby SEO Test he..he.
9. Do not change your site, its not worth the hassle.
10. Do not forget image search and video search.
11. Full sentence verses a few words? the scoring algorithms don’t mind unless it actually notices the spam.
12. Check blog on a cell phone/ iphone to view your site.

14. Test out robots.txt before pushing live.
15. Submit an authenticated spam report.
16. See 404 and Crawl Errors.
17. If you put your blog on sub folder or  sub domain you will get extra links, nice idea!.
